Russell Eugene Balmer Jr.

It is with great sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Russell Eugene Balmer Jr., age 77, on February 15, 2025, at home, surrounded by his loving family and faithful dogs, Dusty and Coco.

Russell is survived by his beloved wife of 36 years, Marie Balmer, and his daughter, Tammy Fitzgerald. He had three grandchildren: Aiyana Sawyer, Corey Crippen, and Savannah Sapienza, as well as five great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his dear sisters, Judy Black and Suzanne Larson, his brother, Mark Balmer, his nephew Randy, and nieces Robin and Debbie.

A man of many passions, Russell loved to fish off the rocks, docks, and piers, relishing the tranquility of nature. He adored traveling to lakes, forests, and mountains, where he found peace and joy. His greatest passion was his commitment to saving animals in need; he was their hero, starting with a simple hamburger and a cup of ice water, offering them a safe home filled with love.

Russell had a profound love for music and cherished date nights with Marie, sharing laughter and warmth while watching movies together.

His heart of gold and gentle spirit touched many lives, and Russell will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know him.

Fly high, soar like an eagle, dear Russell.

With the consideration of Russell's passion for helping animals, we ask that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the Arizona Humane Society.

A memorial service for Russell will be held Saturday, March 22, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Funeraria del Angel Greer-Wilson Chapel, 5921 West Thomas Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85033.
