Sara Ann Gillooly, 37, beloved daughter of Patrick and Lisa Gillooly peacefully passed away on April 28, 2025. Sara left us in the comfort of her home with her parents by her side. Sara was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on July 16, 1988, she attended school in New Mexico her entire childhood and graduated from Del Norte High School in 2006. She moved with her family to Avondale, Arizona in 2021.
Sara was an avid fan of the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Arizona Cardinals. She also loved listening to music, drawing, painting, and playing video games, especially with her older brothers, and her many nieces and nephews. Sara was fiercely loyal to her family and friends, and she loved to sit and tell stories of family memories. Although Sara spent much of her life fighting the effects of a debilitating disease, she never let her mobility keep her from the things she loved most. Sara was a constant presence at family gatherings, on camping trips, and most often at sporting events to cheer on her nieces and nephews, as well as her Arizona Diamondbacks. Sara spent her life fighting and advocating to help find a cure for F.O.P. and attended many conventions to meet and help support others fighting the disease as a member of the IFOPA.
Sara was preceded in death by her grandfather and grandmother, Lawrence “Skip” and Mary “Kay” Gillooly and her grandfather, William “Bill” Heeter. We take comfort knowing that they will all be watching their favorite sports together once again.
In addition to her parents, Patrick L. Gillooly and Lisa A. Gillooly. Sara is survived by her three older brothers, Billy (Rebecca), James (Candice), and Christopher (Michelle Merlet) Gillooly. Her Grandmother, Sharon Heeter. Aunts Christine (Scott), Colleen (Jerry), Connie (Craig) and Uncles Rick (Ginevra Mannino) and Paul. Her cousins Amanda (Kevin), Bradley (Kendyl), Kody, Paul (Phatchira), Kyle, Andie, Danielle (Peter), Caitlin, Sean, Shannon (Sterling), and Lucas (Kaitlyn). And her beloved nieces and nephews, Averie, Ryder, Peyton, Charlotte, Garrett, Mae, Summer, Cora, Kynlie, Paisley, Preston, Giana, Colton, and Kinsley.
Services will be at 11:00AM on May 23, 2025, at the home of Connie and Craig Jones.
