

Sarah had a wonderful life of 100 yrs and 7mos, during these years, she shared 64 of them with her husband, Charles butcher.
Sarah is survived by 3 children, Janice (butcher) Schmidt, with her husband, joe. Cynthia (butcher) Patrick with her husband Jim. Brian with his partner David. Grandsons joe Schmidt Jr (spouse shelly), Jeremy Schmidt and a great grandson maxwell Schmidt. Sarah, also, has many nieces and nephews thru 5 generations.
Sarah and Charles resided in Iowa thru World War 2and the Korean war. Charles served 8 years in the us navy. During that time Sarah worked as a welder, building airplanes to support military efforts (she was indeed a member of the Rosie World War 2 women’s workforce). In 1961, they packed up their family and moved to phoenix az. Charles worked at the veterans’ hospital in phoenix and Sarah worked as the manager of Glendale high school cafeteria in Glendale Arizona until they retired. They left Phoenix for Pinetop/lakeside in the 1980’s and moved back to sun city, Arizona in 1991.
Sarah and Charles spent their retirement years joining in with the Lakeview methodist church, lions club, lawn bowling, playing cards Charles loved to golf, and Sarah’s shuffleboard skills were second to none. They traveled between all of their children and grandchildren’s homes. They even went to Japan to visit Cindy and Jim, where Jim was stationed in the navy.
Through a century of changes, progress, and setbacks, Sarah remained a fighter, a love source, and bedrock of strength. She was not just our mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend, she remained an inspiration of love, hope, determination, and grit and her sense of humor remained intact literally until she graduated to heaven.
