Shirley Raye Coronado

As a young child Shirley enjoyed dancing, watching movies, and playing with her cousins. Shirley started dancing when she was very young, when she was in her teens she joined a dance group Esquire Girls. They toured in the summer along the West Coast and in Canada, entertaining troops during WWII. Shirley really enjoyed dancing on stage, and she always said, that was one of her best summers.

One of Shirley’s favorite vacation spots was Jackson Hole, WY, where Shirley fell in love with The Grand Tetons, she had many trips there with her parents, and her children when they were young and as adults. The Grand Tetons holds a special place in our hearts.

Shirley was a very loving person, she was always there to help anyone who needed it, food, car ride, a hug, or just listening. She was always concerned about everyone’s wellbeing.

Shirley raised six children, and they were her world. Shirley loved being a housewife and in 1955, Shirley, along with three of her children were featured in the paper, the picture is of her serving cupcakes to her 4-yr daughter Kathleen, 2-yr son Kelly, and 6-month-old son Robert. Shirley was also featured in the paper for competing in the Mrs. Arizona Homeowner of 1955.

Later in life she worked at American Express for 16 years where she retired from.

In 1999 she married Angel Coronado, they were married for 25 years.

Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Angel Coronado, her parents Jim and Addie Oliger, her sister Alma Lee Keagan and her son Nelson Jowdy. Shirley is survived by her children Kathleen, Kelly (Lori), Rob (Sonya), Karen (Michael), Sheryl (Mark), grandchildren Casey (Jenny), Steven, Jason, Celeste (Josh) and great grandchildren Matthias, Adeline, Ridley, Katelin and Addison.

A funeral service will be held on January 23, 2026, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary, located at 719 North 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85009.

A committal service will follow on January 23, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 12:30 pm at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary & Cemetery, located at 2300 West Van Buren, Phoenix, AZ 85009.
