Susan Kathryn Conrad

Susan (Sue) Kathryn Conrad passed away suddenly on June 22, 2023 at her home in Phoenix, Arizona. Born in Phoenix on March 14, 1953, the daughter of Clifton and Karyl (Middlesworth) Swigard, Susan recently celebrated her 70th Birthday.

Susan is predeceased by her parents and stepfather Phil Chang. Surviving family include her half -sister Jeni Stender and two nephews Briton and Nicholas Stender, and stepmother Claire Swigard.

Susan resided in Phoenix, Arizona until 1980, then moved to Southern California. She worked at Garrett AiResearch and TRW for several years, before attending college full time. She graduated Cum Laude in 2003 with a BA degree in English: Language & Linguistics from California State University, Dominguez Hills. In 2007 Susan returned to Phoenix where she worked for the Paradise Valley School system, first as a teachers’ aide working with autistic children and later a temporary teacher in the kindergarten and middle school classrooms.

Susan loved cats and adopted several from local shelters over the years. Her most recent “babies” Shadow and Sonny brought her joy and laughter every day.

Susan loved reading and was an excellent researcher on any subject! During her retirement she loved shopping and going to lunch with friends. She will truly be missed.
