🌹❤☦ Eternal Be His Memory ☦❤🌹

Terry was a great guy. Always so friendly to everyone. In sixth grade I was Cinderella and he was the Prince of Pollution in our class play. The Shadow Mountain Class of 1981 Facebook page has over 60 comments and condolences. He was loved by all and will definitely be missed. We are all praying for his family. Blessings to you all!

I remember his 16th birthday party at the Scottsdale Resort. Terry just got a new car, nice paint, tires, sunroof, and nice sound system. So we decided to take it to Central Avenue to show it off. Listening to Journey, window's down, had a blast. After we left Central we went to a desert party, yes a desert party with a new car. Not really thinking, we took if off road. The time we arrived home, at Terry's house in Scottsdale, the car was a mess, and so were we. We crashed around 2:00 am. That was until Terry's dad came in around 6:00 am to wake us up, and asked what happened to the car? The problem was, we didn't remember! But boys was it dirty!! and the issue was that the sun roof had been open and rocks got into the seams of the sunroof. So when we closed the glass sunroof, it got scratched. Dad was not happy!! We had to clean the car and get ready for Bartlett lake to go on the boat. Over time, Terry got the car repainted, but I don't think we every were allowed to be in the car again. Happy 16th birthday memory to you Terry. I will never forget you and the fun we had growing up in High School. Thank you for your friendship!! Tony Hamilton

My first memory of Terry was at a church summer camp when we were in Junior High. Terry and I were both new to the group and were a bit shy. There was one day during the week when the girls had to choose a "date" for the day. I didn't know anyone and was too bashful to ask a guy to hang out with me. I guess Terry was in the same predicament in meeting new people. Therefore, one of the counselors suggested that we spend the day together. We did. While it was awkward and felt forced, Terry and I merged a friendship that lasted throughout high school. When I started attending Shadow Mountain High School as a sophomore, I felt comforted that I knew a friendly face. Terry was there for me. Terry was one of the sweetest guys I knew, and I will miss his kind demeanor and friendship.
To Terry's family, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I pray that you experience God's peace like never before.
Many hugs,
Stephanie (Anttila) Sawyer

A Tribute to Terry Yochum:

Terry was one of the first friends that I met when I moved to Phoenix from Boston in August 1978 at Shadow Mountain High School as Sophomores. Terry and I were teammates in the football program, classmates, we attended the same church and we were most of all friends. I have known Terry and his family for over 40 years and the most important people in Terry's life was his family. I have great recent years' memories of Terry as we watched his niece Shay and our daughter Chloe play basketball at Pinnacle High School. Terry was intelligent, funny, well spoken, well versed on many subjects, out going , engaging , the life of the party type of person and a great friend.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Terry's family and his daughter Jennifer.

We are grateful for the connection that Terry nurtured with us over the past few years. He always made time to connect and share what was going on in his life. Family was important to him and we could count on him for support.

You never truly understand the value of life until you confront a loss like this. He was genuine. Our hearts are broken knowing he is gone.

We miss you big brother!

I am saddened by the untimely loss of one of my former students. Terry was a personable and good guy and a pleasure to have had in class. He will be greatly missed by the Shadow Mountain community.
