She was the best wife. She was the best mother. She was the best grandmother. She loved with her whole heart. She was fierce. She was strong. She was always all in for her family. She was humble, yet proud. She was honest. She was the example of the utmost integrity. She forgave. When things got difficult, she doubled down on her effort to help. Truly a role model to be followed.
Theresa loved her family with all her heart. Her husband Roberto Tostado was the love of her life, her whole life. Her passion was to travel the world, and she did just that. Today, Theresa finished her race with dementia. She fought hard these past two years, enjoying life to the fullest. Mom, you were our foundation, our rock, and most of all our mother. We love you so much. Today you start your journey of eternal life with Christ Jesus.
Dementia/Alzheimer’s is the #1 cause of death in the United States. I’m sure some of you reading this, may be going through a parent or loved one with this disease.
I absolutely promise you, if you are patient even when it feels like you don't have it in you, and you constantly show your love for them, touching, loving, doing everything you can to keep them content and comfortable - you won’t regret it. We gave every minute we had to her the last 2 years. Even when we were hurt by the things this disease was telling her. Suck it up and love them back. It’s not their fault. They truly don’t know. I will 1000% be an advocate for those with dementia the rest of my life.
Thank you to my husband Bob, my dad Beto, my son Robert, for being so intently dedicated to mom the last years. We made her life the absolute best it could have been with this terrible disease.
I love you mama. #withhersaviorandhermomanddaughters
