I had the good fortune to be a teammate with Tom on ASU’s basketball team. He was a consummate competitor and was an inspiration to his teammates. Later, he
surprisedly joined the football team and his speed enabled him to make numerous sacks and disrupt many plays.

I always admired Tom and am sorry to hear of his passing.

Coach Futch was my JV coach at Alhambra High in Phoenix, AZ in 1963.
He taught me toughness and how to make the best of my life. He taught me to be a punter and made me the team punter.
I will always remember him for his toughness and professionalism.
God Bless you Coach Futch.

I attended Alhambra H.S. graduating in 1965. Coach Futch was my J.V. football coach. He was an exceptional athletic and my favorite coach. He taught me respect and the desire to work toward your goals. I visited him a few years back at the care facility on 19th Ave. It was wonderful to see him again and relive old memories. I am saddened to learn of his passing and share my condolences with his family. I will always reflect positively on the time in my life where he was present. I am a better person in life because of his teaching, although he never could make me a good football player.
