

Vel Campbell, 72, of Scottsdale, Arizona, passed away unexpectedly on November 19, 2012. She was born July 19, 1940, in Reno, Nevada, but grew up in Littleton, Colorado, and attended Western State College. She moved to Arizona in 1977 and worked as a research technician for Dial Corporation. Being with and enjoying her family was her highest priority. During and after retirement she did extensive volunteer work for the Phoenix Zoo and was a life time member of the Auxiliary. She was an avid balloonist and became a pilot. Traveling was high on her list and she had visited 47 countries. She is preceded in death by her mother, father and brother. Vel leaves behind her beloved husband, Don, three sons Cory (Molly) of Scottsdale, Archie (Katie) of Fremont, CA, K.C. (Julie) of Phoenix, one daughter Marianne (Larry) of Independence, MO. She also has two sisters, Shirley Sundine of Scottsdale and Opal Fields of Palm Springs, CA. She has 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Vel had a giving and vibrant spirit. Her generosity knew no bounds. She gave unconditional love and had a big heart. Anyone who was lucky enough to know Vel with her positive, endearing personality loved her. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 1:30 P.M., at A.L. Moore Grimshaw Mortuary, 710 W Bethany Home Rd, Phoenix, AZ. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Phoenix Zoo Auxiliary.
