Vela Sharp

age 99 of Glendale, Arizona, passed away May 19, 2013 in Peoria, Arizona. She was born November 29, 1913 in Louisville, Alabama. In 1952, she moved to Phoenix, Arizona from Nashville, Tennessee, where she worked in the Osborn School District for 29 years. She was also a charter member of the Sun City Church of the Nazarene and also a member of the Orangewood Church of the Nazarene for many years. She is preceded in death by her parents and daughter Sylvia Dunnavant. She is survived by a daughter, Wyla Phillips (Clifton); five grandchildren, Deborah Boyd (William), Renee Larsen (Allan), Gayla Dykens (Richard), Sean Dunnavant (Jennifer), and Deena Laughlin (Chad); 12 great-grandchildren, Jacob Larsen, Dana Larsen, Tiffany Dunnavant, Joshua Dunnavant, Benjamin Dunnavant, Matthew Dykens, Nicholas Dykens, Timothy Dykens, Seth Laughlin, Hannah Laughlin, Nathan Laughlin, and Micah Laughlin; and one great-great-grandchild, Jagger Larsen. A visitation will be held Friday, May 31, 2013, at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary, 719 North 27th Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona 85009, at 10:00, with a graveside service following immediately after at 11:00.
