In memory of our beloved Velia
Velia, as you have crossed over onto the presents of our lord and savior, atop the wings of an angel and into the arms of your awaiting mother Angelita Alvarez, my mother’s sister. I am compelled to seek profoundly for words to best express what you mean to us the Alvarez descendents, so in respect to your legacy and your memory I will briefly explain your linage on the Alvarez side to elaborate on just what a remarkable person you truly are, overcoming all that fell upon you: Velia was the only other surviving grandchild of our grandparents, Blasé and Consuelo Alvarez, who’s union produced daughters Angelita (Velia’s mom), Estela (our mom), Geronimo, and Lupita. Our Grandmother Consuelo died young, leaving her youngest child Lupita an infant, Geronimo age 5, Estela age 7, and Angelita age 9. The children where sent to live and be raised by their grandmother Delfina. A few years later at the age of approx 22 or so Angelita (Velia’s mother) married my tio Lucresio, that union produced two children, Velia and a son who past way soon after. Meanwhile Lupita was experiencing health problems and past way; she was just in her early teens.  Soon there after Velia’s mother Angelita also past way leaving Velia at the approx age of ten or so.  Then it was just Velia and her father my tio Lucresio, who because of his responsibilities and because Velia needed to attend school he had to leave Velia in the care of relatives, however he would take Velia with him to work harvesting the fields often. It was a back braking job for the strongest of any man let alone a skinny lanky young girl, and so that is why anyone that knows Velia will tell you that she  could hold her own on most anything. Now as fate would have it, a ray of hope and a sense of normalcy for Velia came when my tio Lucresio met and married Leonor, who herself already had several kids older than Velia. However, Velia would soon be blessed with a little sister (Maria) and a little brother (Junior), whom she positively adored. With the pasting of our beloved Velia another link in the Alvarez linage is now absent here on earth, but she has blessed us all by leaving us an extension of herself, in Lupe, Henry, and little Emilio, so there you have it a micro journey back into Velia’s Alvarez roots. We Val, Louie, Jerry, David, and our mother Estela will forever feel the painful emptiness and will forever miss our Velia, and those great big kiss’s she’d gave us all on the cheek. Always leaving her trade mark red lipstick imprint on us, and whispering I LOVE YOU, as she held on to us with her long tight forever hugs, each time she was departing and saying Good Bye until the next time, just like the last time we all got together for the last time! 

Velia, until the time comes when we can hug you back, we love you and will forever feel your warm embracing hugs and your red lipstick kiss marks will forever warm our hearts. Love, your Tia Estela, cousins, Louie, Val, Jerry, David, and from heaven our sisters, Alma, Angie, our father your Tio Othon, and from the rest of your extended Alvarez family – We love you and will forever hold you in our hearts.

As is your name, as was your sorrow concealed within your beautiful smile without a hint to the wiser. Conversely through the voyage of time, befell the blessing of your brood, which we will forever honor in your name. When we lose someone we love, it seems that time stands still. What moves though us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left us so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget. 
Velia we will all be with you soon....

You have been in my thoughts and prayers since the 1st day of such news. Your no longer here but await for us with our gran family of whom mean so much to all of us. We will miss you dearly.

Velia,
I will always remember the good times we had since childhood. Then you carried me on your back and now you await for us in heaven. You will be greatly missed although we know you are watching over us now.

Only met you a couple of times but what a beautiful,wonderful person you were. Heaven got another great angel. Your in peace now watch over and send peace to the hearts of those who loved you.

When you lose someone you love, it always takes some time to cope with all the sadness and the changes you go through.  We had many good times together.  We will never, ever, forget you.  We love you and will miss you so much.       Your sister Lupe and brother  in law Gilbert Maldonado.

It was a plesure working with you and having you as a close friend. We always talked to each other about our greatest memories and now you have become one in my life. You were always a joy to be around you maybe be gone but not forgotten and forever loved.

It was such a blessing when you came into our family, and into our hearts.  I know "soul mates" when I encounter them, and you and Jimmy were just that. You will be missed by all of us.

My loving cousin, No! let me rephrase that my sister as you were like a sister to me, There is no words that i can say how i feel right now for this tremendous lost the impact that is felt to La Familia, you were such a beautiful person full of life and laughter, you will be greatly missed by all especially me Prima i still remember our days of dancing and having fun, i will always remember you dedicating that song to me where ever we went by Tower Of Power ( You're Still a young man ) only problem is Prima is everytime i'll hear it you won't be there and i'll just cry.
