It is with great sadness that the family of Verna M. Butler announces her passing. On the evening of Sunday, June 3, 2018 Verna entered into eternal rest at the age of eighty four. Verna was born April 30, 1934 in Sioux City, Iowa. She was one of eleven siblings. She was proceeded in death by her hard working husband Luther A. Butler.
Verna had unconditional love for her family and friends. She without a doubt, devoted herself to her children. She was a woman of pure strength who raised two of her grandchildren. Verna had a love for gardening, nature, and animals. She owned pomegranate trees, fig trees, citrus trees and rose bushes. With that, she also grew some of her own vegetables. She nurtured birds in her yard with bird baths and hummingbird feeders. Taking care of these daily was a passionate hobby of hers. She cherished many dogs in her lifetime as well, dachshunds being her favorite. Leaving behind Charlie and Peaches. Verna was known for her famous fried chicken and fudge that her grand kids could not get enough of. She attended church and in many of her years volunteering her time at her church’s food bank in East Mesa.
Verna, besides her husband was proceeded in death by a son, Robert L. Butler, grandson, Robert Scott, and great grandson Robert Joseph Jeffrey. She is survived by her three children Gary, Bonnie, and Donna. Additionally, Verna will be lovingly remembered by her nine grandchildren, Kelly, Robert Shane, Pauline, Sarah, Tamara, Gary, Jeremiah, Robin, and Jesse. She is also survived by fifteen plus great grand children.
Funeral services for Verna will be held Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Greenwood/Lawn Mortuary at 11:00 am. Burial directly following at Resthaven Cemetery, 4310 E. Southern Ave, Phoenix, AZ. 85042.
