

Vernon Charles Evitt, Sr. passed away September 10, 2016 two hours after being discharged from Abrazo West Hospital in Avondale, AZ. Leaving behind Linda L. Evitt, his wife of 47 years; his daughter, Christina M. Evitt; his son Vernon C. Evitt, Jr.; grandsons Christopher Charles and Kevin Ray. Granddaughters: Latasha and Vicky. He also left behind adopted family members; to name a few: Glenn Neller, Kelvin Cockerham, Brenda Trujillo, Brady Budman, adopted-dis adopted-adopted daughter Arlene and many great grandchildren.
He is proceeded in death by his mother, Alice M. Evitt, his father, John Evitt, two brothers Bobby and Donald Evitt, and son Gary L. Murray.
Vernon was born October 3, 1938 in Grants Pass, Or. He was 78 years old at the time of his death. He lived most of his life in Northern California until he moved to Arizona after retiring. He loved fishing, camping, restoring old cars and taking the “scenic route” to places he didn’t exactly know how to get to. He was a Raiders Fan and a San Francisco Giants fan from way back.
He was in the Navy from 1957 to 1964. After the Navy he worked for Bank of America, then became a heavy duty mechanic, a truck driver and opened his own business. He was a food bank volunteer for many years and ran a soup kitchen in Vallejo CA.
Vernon was a gentle man, a great friend, the best dad ever, a best friend and husband for 47 years. We will miss him forever and a day.
