Victor Rogelio Cortez

Victor Rogelio Cortez (74) passed away peacefully March 13, 2024. He was born September 11, 1949 in Harlingen, Texas. At the age of twelve, he moved with his family to Arizona. He was the eldest amongst his siblings and took that role with honor. He provided, guided, and led brothers Rick, Nicolas, Joe and sisters Lupe and Mona, as well as Leonardo, Nicolas, Ramon and Mario the best way he could. He was not only a loving brother but also a caring uncle, providing a safe haven for his nieces and nephews and always welcoming them with open arms.

Victor was proceeded in death by his father Nicolas H. Cortez Sr., mother Petra V. Cortez, and just 16 days after his son Johnny Cortez Sr., grandsons Nicholas Jacob Cortez and Marcus Xavier Erran. He is survived by his son, Victor Roy Cortez and daughters Sally Patricia Ortiz and Mia Nicole Erran, along with 17 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He was the oldest soul we knew, wise beyond his years and full of stories. Victor will be greatly and terribly missed by both family and friends and all those who had the privilege of knowing him.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2024 beginning at 10 A.M., with his funeral to follow at 11 A.M. at Greenwood Memory Lawn Mortuary Serenity Chapel, 719 N. 27th. Ave., Phoenix, AZ. 85009.

His committal service will be at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 2300 W. Van Buren, Phoenix, AZ., 85009.
