AFTERGLOW I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one. I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when day is done.

I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways, of happy times and laughing times and bright and sunny days.

I’d like the tears of those who grieve to dry before the sun, of happy memories that I leave behind when day is done.

Tom was one of those rare 'heart of gold' people. Although he was an outdoorsman, he was also a gentle family person. He loved his parents and spent many an evening talking with them about the family 'long ago'. His mother, Bonnie, loved the fact that he cooked for her and her husband, Virgil.

Tom was also good to his extended family. His Uncle Tom loved him like a son, and they shared a love for animals, exotic and domestic. He took the time to talk with people who, like he, had their health problems and made strangers feel like friends.

I am very thankful for Tom and that his life had such a powerful and meaningful purpose. I will miss his jovial voice and the way he ended conversations with, "well, alright now". He was a lovely man.
