

Virginia was born September 3, 1927 to Lynn and Ida Kimmich in Phoenix. Virginia graduated from North High school in 1945. She then went on to study at Steven College in Missouri and eventually, in 1969, received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Arizona State University and began her career as a registered nurse.
Virgina, as a military wife, had been stationed at many various posts throughout the U.S. and in foreign countries. She loved to travel.
While attending North HS, Virginia met Norman L. Overton, eventually was married by military ceremony at Encanto Park in Phoenix and had four children.
Virginia is predeceased by her son Roger Overton. She is survived by Norman L. Overton (Skip), Dayna C. Owskey and Peter B. Overton.
After graduating from ASU nursing school, her first big job was as supervisor at Maricopa County Hospital. This led to other bigger hospital administrative jobs. She, in the 1980's, was appointed Director of one hospital and implemented setting up a new hospital in Saudi Arabia. She received various honors and awards from the Saudi government. She retired in the late 80's and continued to support ASU with many donations to the College of Nursing till she passed away.
Virginia received the Glorious Golden Circle Metal Award for 50 plus years of service from ASU in 2019.
Virginia was a kind and loving person to everyone. She loved animals, horseback riding, tennis and pina coladas. She especially loved and supported the AZ Diamondbacks and the Cardinals watching the teams play on TV or at the stadium. She will be missed, but also remembered in a special way, by everyone who loved her.
A graveside service for Virginia will be held Thursday, June 15, 2023 at 9:00 AM at Greenwood Memory Lawn Cemetery, 719 North 27th Ave, Phoenix, Arizona 85009.
