Virginia G. Freiwald

Virginia G. Freiwald, 93, of Sun City West, Arizona, formerly of Erie, PA, died Tuesday, April 18, at her home surrounded by family. She was born in Erie, PA on April 13, 1924.She graduated from Millcreek High School in Millcreek PA. She enjoyed working at the lamp store and her time working at the travel agency on West 26th Street, where she retired from. She moved to Phoenix, AZ in 1988 with her late husband William Freiwald Sr. They were married for 41 years prior to his passing. She was an avid reader. Her love of politics and current events kept her youthful and sharp.She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mildred Cronin, her brother Dick Cronin and her son William Freiwald Jr. Survivors include her brother Jack Cronin and wife Dorothy of The Villages, FL, son, Gerald Freiwald and wife Sibylle Freiwald, her daughter Mary Beth Carollo and husband Michael Carollo of Phoenix, AZ and daughter in law Linda Freiwald of Erie, PA. Four grandchildren, Chris Freiwald and wife Alison Freiwald, Aimee Freiwald, Katie LaVake and husband Blair LaVake of Phoenix, AZ and Jeff Freiwald and wife Tunde Freiwald of Pittsburgh PA. Eight great grandchildren, Alex, Livia, Ben, Will, Aubree, Zachary, Olivia and Beau. Nieces and nephews, Ricky, Patti Jo, Peggy, Patrick and Michael. A graveside service will be held at the National Memorial Cemetery located at 23029 N. Cave Creek Road in Phoenix, AZ, on Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017 promptly at 9:30 AM. A Celebration of Life Gathering is scheduled for Saturday, May 13th at 4pm. Donations will be accepted in Virginia Freiwald’s name at the Hospice of the Valley.
