She was born in Boston, Massachusetts on April 19, 1943. Vivian graduated from the University of Tulsa and received a masters degree in social work from Arizona State University. She was previously married to Thomas Murray Evans for 14 years before separating. Vivian worked as a schoolteacher instructing high school Spanish and French before changing careers and going into social work, spending most of her time in the field working in hospice care. She had a passion for animals and sheltered many dogs, horses and birds over the course of her lifetime. She is survived by her son, Thomas Jason Evans and his wife Andrea Tyler Evans, and her grandchildren Thomas Howard Evans and Elizabeth Joy Evans, all of Phoenix. She is also survived by her brother Kenneth Orms of Greensboro, North Carolina and Russell Orms of Phoenix. In lieu of flowers or services, contributions may be made to the Arizona Animal Welfare League.
