Wayne Gordon Reel, age 93, of Phoenix, passed away on Wednesday, April 18, 2018 at his residence. He was born on January 10, 1925 to the late Lowell Edward and Avis Beatice (Clark) Reel in Vincennes, IN. Wayne graduated from Parker High School, then enlisted into the US Army where he earned 2 Overseas Service Bars, the American Campaign Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon with 3 Bronze Battle Stars, a Good Conduct Medal, and the World War 2 Victory Medal. He was a Manager for Delta Airlines in Atlanta, GA until his retirement in 1985. In 1945 he married Altha Marie Thorson. Wayne was a member of VFW Post #9400. He enjoyed playing golf, but was a avid sports fan in general. Wayne is survived by his two loving daughters, Diane Dunlap and Karen Eblen; three grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and many other loving family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Altha Marie Reel; a brother, Denzel Reel; and his son, Richard Reel. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, April 25, 2018, at Shiloh Community Church, 19021 N. 32nd Street, Phoenix, AZ 85050. Committal services with military honors will be held at National Memorial Cemetery of AZ at a future time. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Wayne’s honor may be made to the American Heart Association or a veteran charity of your choice.
