William “Willie” or “Zeke” Ong, 83, formerly of Saugus, MA passed away on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 in Gilbert, AZ. Born and raised in Phoenix, Zeke was a graduate of Phoenix Union High School and earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Arizona State University. He was an Air Force veteran and also served as past commander of Thomas Tang American Legion Post 50. He was a charter member of the First Chinese Baptist Church. Zeke worked in his family’s grocery business however spent most of his career in retail store management in Saugus, MA. After living in MA for 37 years, he returned to AZ in 2008. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Catrina and Brian Corey; his grandsons, Tyler and Connor Cash; his sisters, Anna Mae Ong, Lucy Woo (Chester), and Adeline Tom (Newton); and many nieces and nephews. He is pre-deceased by his beloved wife, Geri; his son, Harry; and his brothers, Tom, Ted, Fred, and Ray. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, October 18, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at A. L. Moore-Grimshaw Chapel located at 710 W. Bethany Home Rd., Phoenix. He will be interred with his wife at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park in Peabody, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Thomas Tang American Legion Post 50, c/o George Ong, 4408 E.
