Funeral services for Alvin Paul Granger will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, in the chapel of Dillard Funeral Home, 2402 Gentry Memorial Hwy., Pickens, SC 29671, officiated by Reverend Jamie Duncan. The family will receive friends prior from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. The committal service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2410 Gentry Memorial Hwy., Pickens, SC, 29671.

Alvin passed away on Saturday, May 1, 2021, at 3:56 p.m., at his home. Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Bruce Granger and Eunice Porter Granger. He was a Baptist and a veteran of the United States Army, where he served on a U.S. Missile Battalion unit at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. He was a life long resident of Pickens County. He retired from Enoree Vocational School, Greenville, SC, where he taught for many years. Prior to teaching, he did heating and air conditioning throughout Pickens County. Alvin was a man of many talents and interests. He loved life and adored his grandchildren. He enjoyed boating, shrimping, hunting, fishing, loved antiques and old cars. He was a Mason and a Shriner and a member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Lois Chappell Granger, of the home; one daughter, Sandy Granger, of Greer; one granddaughter, Brittany Reece Chapman, and her three children, Colby, Keagan, and Korbin, all of Pickens. He also leaves behind one sister, Marilyn Murrell of Easley, and one brother, Fred Granger of Pickens. He was predeceased by a great grandson, Christian Chapman of Pickens, and one sister, Doris Chapman of Easley.

Pallbearers will be Colby Chapman, Terry Chandler, Robert Murrell, Doug Chappell, Michael Welborn, and Ron Monday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriner's Hospital for Children, 930 West Farris Rd., Greenville, SC, 29605, and/or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 101 North Main St., Greenville, SC 29601.
