Alvin Leo Powell, age 77, husband of Betty Lou Powell went to be with the Lord Thursday, December 22, 2016. Mr. Powell was born in Pickens, SC and was the son of the late Horace R. Powell and Ada Chandler Powell. Mr. Powell was retired from Sir Shirtmaker as a stich room foreman and a member of Blue Ridge View Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of fifty seven years, one son; Alvin Dale Powell (Sandy), a sister; Edna Faye Raines, and a brother; Vernon Powell. Mr. Powell also leaves in his memory a grandson; Lewis Powell. In addition to his parents, Mr Powell is predeceased by his brothers; William Powell, Cleo Powell, Herman Powell, Albert Powell and a sister; Sara Mae Crowe. Visitation will be held Monday December 26, 2016 from 10 am until 11 am at Blue Ridge View Baptist Church. Service will follow at 11 am. Burial will at the Blue Ridge View Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will be at the home. Memorial may be made to the Blue Ridge View Baptist Church building fund at 745 Wolf Creek Road Pickens, South Carolina 29671.The family will also receive flowers.
