Annie was born May 29, 1941, in Tuscaloosa, AL, daughter of the late J.C. Gilstrap and Alma Farley Gilstrap. Annie was retired from Champion Aviation. She enjoyed painting and crafts, and sold her artwork at The Market at the Mill in Pickens. She loved her family, especially her grandbabies. Annie was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her loving husband of 63 years, Grover Mathis, Jr., one daughter, Susan Bright, two sons, Michael Mathis, and Timothy Mathis. She also leaves behind one brother, Larry Gilstrap and many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, Annie was also preceded in death by her son, Daniel Mathis, son-in-law, Will Bright, and two brothers, Albert Gilstrap and James Gilstrap.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 5, 2021, from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 6, 2021, at 2 p.m. in the Dillard Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Don McQueen officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will be at the home of Susan Bright.
