Barbara N Snelson

Barbara Maureen Newman Snelson, 81, of Pickens, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, February 27, 2017. Born on June 21, 1935, in Spartanburg County, she was the daughter of the late George Johnson and Lucile Ruth Thurmond Newman. Barbara enjoyed camping with her husband, stamp and coin collecting, and was of the Baptist Faith. Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Ralph Thomas Snelson, Jr.; two children, Ralph “Tommy” Snelson, III (Robin) and Marissa Melsh; one sister Margaret Cater (Roger); one sister-in-law, Veronica Newman; nine grandchildren, Jason Hendricks (Lisa), Ashley Burt (David), Eric (Joy), Zachary, Caleb, Hannah, and Isaac Snelson, and Alicia and Van Massingill; four great grandchildren, Angelina and Avie Marshall, and Zane and Blake Snelson, and many loving nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Barbara was also predeceased by one daughter, Judy DeClue and two brothers, Larry and Richard Newman. Receiving of friends will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2017, from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home, with a graveside service to follow at 4:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
