Betty Jean Travers

Born in Pickens County on September 17, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Edgar and Alma Jones Trotter.

Jean was of the Baptist Faith and worked for Belk’s Department Store for many years. She loved having coffee delivered to her in the morning by her husband of 24 years, Edwin “Ed” Travers. Jean enjoyed traveling, growing flowers and spoiling her fur baby, Tiny Travers, the family cat.

Also surviving are her four children, Lisa Chappell Beers of ATL, GA, Robert B. Travers (Kelley) of Dawsonville, GA, Carrie Willard (James) of Dunwoody, GA, and Tracy Nicholson (Brian) of Gainesville, GA; two brothers, Wayne Trotter (Ruth) and Jerry Trotter (Carolyn); one sister, Jessie Mae James (Harold), and nine grandchildren, Josh and Sophia Beers, Jonah and McKenna Willard, Emily, Ellie and Erin Nicholson, and Zachary and Taylor Travers.

Jean was preceded in death by one brother, Randall Trotter and one sister, Sarah Hayes.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 17, 2017, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Dillard Funeral Home, with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. in the chapel.
