Brenda and I were first cousins and I am so saddened to hear she had passed.  I know she had not been doing well the last time I saw her at a restaurant enjoying a meal with some of her family.  She was always such a sweet, sweet person and I know you will miss her terribly.  I am so sorry you are having to deal with this sadness but I will be remembering all of you in my prayers for comfort.

Dear Uncle Ray, Steven and Scott:

We are all simply shocked and broken-hearted at hearing the news of our dearest Aunt Brenda’s passing. May God bless each member of your family especially you, Uncle Ray. We are praying for each one of you, our dearest cousins, Steven and Scott, as well as your wives and children and our extended family right now as we begin the process of saying good-bye to our beloved Aunt Brenda.  Becki and I both agree that she is one of the kindest and most humble women we have ever known in our lives. Our Daddy, (Wayne Burns, 1945-2020) dearly loved his sister, our Aunt Brenda Holliday. Our Daddy told us all the stories of him and Brenda skating at the skating ring, listening to all the sock-hop music such as “Chantilly Lace” and dancing to  “The Twist”.  Daddy said they were such good dancers,  that he could swing Brenda around his waist, then toss her up in the air and catch her into his arms and then turn her out into a spin.  He LOVED dancing with his sister Brenda!
In their latter years, Daddy along with our Mother (Ann Limbaugh Burns, 1946-2021), our Aunt Brenda and Uncle Ray loved visiting with one another so very much. They loved couple dating and going out to the Huddle and Golden Coral.  Mama missed their couple dates so much after our Daddy passed away. Our Mama absolutely loved and thought there was no one in the world like your Bradley!  Our entire family considers our Aunt Brenda a family treasure! Mrs. Brenda Burns Holliday was definitely cherished and deeply admired by the entire Wayne Burns family. We send our most sincere condolences and pray for our great Comforter to meet each one of you where you are in grief and bring you the peace that only He can bring. There is and was no one in the world like our precious Aunt Brenda Holliday. We are heartbroken to hear this horrible news and are praying for all of you.

I know I’m not the best person in the world. And I’m hated by many just because my lack of beliefs. But when I was given the news of the last root of the original family tree passed. It absolutely floored me. The one thing that kept a tie to my mom that has passed. Has passed herself. They are no more left. I know it’s gonna be hard without her in y’all’s life from here on till the day you die. It doesn’t get easier or better. You just learn to block it out more. A simple song. Or a simple word. Or maybe even a simple place she frequently visited. Will bring back all the memories and the pain from her loss. Brenda meant a lot to me. And my mom and my sister. We have many fond memories of our times with her. Where it be at family dinners. Or at the beach. Or even just dropping in to say hello. But I have one bad memory that’s burned into my memory. Seeing Brenda stand over her sister. Aka my mom. And tell her it’s ok to go. That granny and all the others are waiting on you. Them words and that image will haunt me the rest of the my days. Bc I wasn’t ready to loose a mom. Brenda was a good person and a good wife. I have absolutely nothing bad to say about her. She has helped my family out. When we was in need. Brenda was loved by many. And hated by none. My last memory of her. Is me broking physically in the nursing home. And her coming to see ray who was broken himself. She treated me like always. And she wished me a speedy recovery. Then she hugged me and left. Little did I know that would be the last hug I’d get from her. They are a lot of lasts that happen. And we are to blind to see them. Until it’s too late. Brenda will forever be my aunt. And she will forever hold that link between her and mom. No matter how long she is gone from this earth. To Scott, Stephen, Lisa, Debra, Nathan, Britany and Bradley. I’m forever greatful to have yall. And I know it’s gonna be hard on each and every one of yall. And I’m sincerely sorry for your loss.
