

Ed was born in Pickens to the late M.C. Alexander and Jeanette Alexander Kelley. A graduate of Liberty High School and was employed as an auto mechanic at Roper Motor Company. In 1981, he opened Alexander's Auto Service, where he served the Easley community for 37 years. The success of his business was not only because of his skill, but also because of the way he treated his customers. He was an avid College football fan and was a lifelong USC Gamecock fan. Ed enjoyed hunting, fishing and Nascar racing.
Ed was one of the kindest, most generous and patient men. He was a man of God who adored his family and had a wonderful sense of humor.
Ed is survived by his devoted wife Cathy Howard Alexander; one daughter Terri Alexander Graves (Paul) and his three step-children Angie Strickland (Mike), Nathan Ridlehoover (Erin), and Devin Ridlehoover; grandchildren Hayden Alexander Graves, Courtney Elizabeth Graves, Addison "Gray" Guthrie, Lillie Grace Strickland, Jonah, Millie and Nora Ridlehoover; siblings Elizabeth Nix (Harrison), Gail Bennett, Evelyn Bowie, and Michael Alexander.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Carlos "Bud" Alexander, Calvin Alexander, Matthew Alexander and his sister Mildred Alexander Powell.
A visitation for Ed will be held Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 10:30 AM to 11:45 AM at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home, 2402 Gentry Memorial Highway, Pickens, South Carolina 29671, with a funeral service to follow at 12:00 PM. A committal service will be held at Hillcrest Memorial park.
