Charles Elton “Red” Curtis, 82, of Liberty, husband of the late Bonnie Sue Lee Curtis, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at home. Born in Pickens County, on December 11, 1933, he was the son of the late Christopher and Pauline Childress Curtis. He was a member of Roanoke Baptist Church for 46 years, serving as a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and church bus driver. Mr. Curtis was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and playing the guitar. Surviving are his five daughters, Debra Gilstrap, Genell Cortright, Gayle Esancy (Bruce), Teresa Charlene McCall, and Rebecca Farmer; two brothers, Wallace and Maurice Curtis; eleven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Curtis was also predeceased by three brothers, two sisters, and a son-in-law, Robert McCall. The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 13, 2016, from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016, at 3 p.m. at Roanoke Baptist Church, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.
