Sunset – Conethel Watson Hudson 81, passed from this life on Thursday January 17, 2019.
Mrs. Hudson was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Walter Lee “Cooter” Hudson, Sr. She was born August 28, 1937 in Pickens County to the late Clemmie and Allie Owens Watson. Mrs. Hudson was a member of Crowe Creek Church of God in Six Mile, SC where she was the last surviving charter member. She served as the church secretary for over 50 years and the church clerk for over 40 years.
Mrs. Hudson retired from the School District of Pickens County after 34 years’ service. She was the lunchroom manager at A. R. Lewis Elementary School for her entire career. She loved feeding “her” kids and over the years saw many of them and it always brightened her day when they would share fond memories of her as the lunchroom lady.
Survivors include a son Lee Hudson and a daughter Lisa Hudson both of Sunset. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law Jackie Hudson of Easley. Two grandchildren Amanda Hudson (Doug Fowler) and Matthew Hudson both of Easley. She is also survived by the apple of her eye, her great granddaughter McKenna Fowler of Easley. She is also survived by a brother Wilton “Bill” Watson of Pickens, two sisters Dallie Lunsford of Greenwood and Marretta “Deddie” Smith of Salem. She also has a special “adopted” daughter and her family Diane, David and Hunter Green. Diane was the neighbor’s daughter but was over at Conethel’s house more than her own sometimes.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Hudson was predeceased by 3 sisters, Ethel Adams (her twin), Margaret Watson and Vernell Watson, and a brother Buddy Watson.
Reverend Raymond Whitman and Reverend Roland Bearden will be speaking at the service.
Pallbearers will be Matthew Hudson, Doug Fowler, Brian Bearden, David Green, Ron Monday, Jamie Smith, Josh Hale, Heath Hale and Bobby Adams, Jr.
The family would like to thank all of the staff and volunteers at AnMed Cannon Hospital in Pickens. They were so kind and helpful throughout Conethel’s last days. Also a special thanks to Glenda Snyder, Nurse Practitioner who went above and beyond for Conethel and her family and also to Hospice of the Upstate.
The family would also like to thank Dillard Funeral Home and Hillcrest Memorial Park. They have always been so kind to the Hudson family throughout their funeral planning.
Flowers will be accepted but memorials may be made to Crow Creek Church of God Building Fund, 128 Crowe Creek Church Road, Six Mile, SC 29682.
The family will receive friends at Dillard Funeral Home on Sunday, January 20, 2019 from 6 to 8 PM. Funeral services will be conducted 2 PM Monday, January 21, 2019 in the funeral home chapel with burial following at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
A meal will be served at the Crowe Creek Church of God Fellowship Building, 128 Crowe Creek Road, Six Mile, SC 29682 following the graveside service.
