Dewey is survived by his daughters Deb Ulstad and Terri Pschorr of Easley and his son Jeff Olson (Renee) of Decatur, TX. He is survived by six grandchildren, Jessica Ulstad (Daryl), Erika Olson McClure, Josh Pschorr (Whitney), Marissa Ulstad (Eric), Emily Olson and Tucker Pschorr, and five great-grandchildren, Phineas Pschorr, Asa Ulstad-Volk, Minnie Ulstad-Volk, Sam McClure and Liesl Ulstad-Volk. He was predeceased by his wife, Frances Olson (Salomonson) and his brother Myron Olson.
Dewey was born April 6, 1935 in Hitterdal, MN to Milo and Martha Olson. He married his childhood sweetheart Fran in 1954 and they remained steadfastly in love until her death in 2018. After service in the US Army during the Korean War, Dewey graduated from North Dakota State University with an Electrical Engineering degree. He had a long career with IBM as a Communications Director which brought him to six different cities.
Dewey was a skilled woodcarver and craftsman. In addition to carving, he enjoyed restoring Model A Fords and was a talented mechanic. He and Fran enjoyed traveling throughout the US, camping and the outdoors. Dewey was an animal lover and as a young man, he began his life-long love of horses by training and riding his mare Lady.
Dewey was a long-time member of St. Matthias Lutheran Church in Easley and had served on numerous committees including the Church Council.
Services are pending at this time, and the family requests that instead of flowers, memorial donations be made to St. Matthias Lutheran Church.
