Mrs. Wood was born in Greenville, SC on September 5, 1939 to the late Lillie Ruth Kelley Turner and William Henry Turner. She enjoyed many things in life, including sewing, cooking, and coloring. Mrs. Wood had a special love for all animals, but she especially loved her dog; Yugi. Mrs. Wood was of the Baptist Faith, and attended Berea First Baptist Church.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her daughter: Susan Elizabeth Whittington of Easley; two grandsons: William Allen Whittington (Shelby) of Easley and Zachary Lee Whittington of Pickens; two granddaughters: Katie Wood Marquis (John Peyton) of Oxford, Mississippi and Megan Wood Williamsons (Andrew) of Decatur, Georgia; and a great-grandson: Dean Allen Whittington of Easley. She is also survived by her two brothers: Gene Turner (Shelby) of Easley and Thomas Turner (Jackie) of Dacusville; three sisters: Josephine Granruth (Dave) of Liberty, Arlene Perry (Harold) of Easley, and Geraldine Mohr (Dennis) of Baltimore, Maryland; and a special friend: Joy Martin.
In addition to her loving husband and her parents, Mrs. Wood was preceded in death by a son: William Ralph Wood, Jr.; and five brothers: James Richard Turner, Calvin Turner, Waymon Earl Turner, Hugh Stanley Turner, and Oliver John Turner.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM on Friday, March 24, 2023 in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home with interment to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 2:45 PM on Friday, prior to the service, at Dillard Funeral Home.
