Pickens – Ella Mae Chastain Alexander, 93, widow of Glen Clyde Alexander, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday December 9, 2018.
Mrs. Alexander was born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Andrew and Missouri Posey Chastain. She was a homemaker and a charter member of Lakeview Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school. Mrs. Alexander loved her home and loved to cook and bake. Her grandchildren will always remember her for her beef stew. She served as a perfect example of a biblical godly mother to her family and all she met.
Survivors include a son, Tim Alexander (Donna) of Pickens, two daughters, Marlene Couch of Liberty and Debbie Childs of Pickens. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Summer Anders, Brittany Kelley, Lindsey Whitmire, Brandi Broom, Tyler Childs and Matthew Couch and fifteen great grandchildren. Mrs. Alexander is also survived by three sisters, Adeline Holden of Walhalla, Isabel Duncan of Liberty and Gertrude Thompson of Easley.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Alexander was preceded in death by a sister, Irene Trotter and a son-in-law, Gary “Moose” Couch.
The family would like to express special thanks to her caregivers, Isabell, Ann, Reve, Jill, Danielle, and Angie as well as GHS Hospice of The Upstate.
The family will receive friends at Dillard Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 to 3:30 PM with funeral services following at 3:30 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
