

Frances Elizabeth Gilstrap Anderson “Mama”, went on to be with her Lord peacefully on Monday, February 8, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was a daughter of the late John Luther Gilstrap and Cora Elizabeth Chappell Gilstrap.
She was born in Pickens on August 23, 1930. A loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother; she is survived by her devoted husband of 67 years, Clyde Lester Anderson of Pickens; Son Steve Anderson (Darlene) of Pickens; daughter, Mary Howell (Bill) of Greenville; Granddaughters, Gretchen Reeves (Jamie), April Anderson, Heather Shelton (Wesley), Allison Howell, and Melanie Wells (Eric); Great Grandchildren, Kendyl Black (Caleb), Jay and Ben Reeves, Logan and Kinsley Shelton, and Reece Elizabeth Wells; great-great-granddaughter, Kesley Black; Sister, Sue Patton; special nephew who was raised with her family, Jerry Layton Gilstrap. In addition to her parents, she was preceded by ten brothers and sisters.
Mama took great pride in her family and she loved spending time with them. Mama was a woman of strong faith in God and was a devoted member of Midway Baptist Church. She had a special place in her heart for children, and worked in the Children’s Ministry at Midway Baptist, as well as her former church. The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses, doctors and staff of St. Francis Hospital, as well as the emergency room staff of Cannon Memorial Hospital and the Pickens EMS.
Celebration of her life 3:30 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2016 in the Chapel of Dillard Memorial Funeral Home with receiving of friends at approximately 4:30 p.m. following chapel service.
Burial in Hillcrest Memorial Park, Pickens.
