A Minnesota native, Mrs. Olson was the daughter of Leonard and Esther Salomonson of Hitterdal, MN, now both deceased.
She is survived by her husband, Dewey, of Liberty, her daughters Deborah Ulstad and Teresa Pschorr of Easley and her Son Jeffrey (Renee) of Decatur, TX. She is also survived by her sister Mrs. Joanne (Calvin) Olson of Sioux City, IA.
She leaves six grandchildren, Ms. Jessica (Daryl Hemenway) Ulstad of San Jose, CA.; Ms. Marissa (Eric Volk) Ulstad of St. Louis Park, MN; Ms. Erika (Kristi) McClure of Denton, TX; Ms. Emily Olson (Neil Norton) of Anaheim, CA.; Joshua (Whitney) Pschorr of Seattle, WA, and Tucker Pschorr of Easley, SC. She was a proud great grandmother of four: Phineas, Asa, Minnie, and Sam.
Mrs. Olson attended public schools in Hitterdal, MN. She and her husband travelled extensively, visiting all 48 contiguous states, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico. They were formerly residents of Minnesota, Texas, Illinois, North Dakota, Iowa, New York, Georgia and North Carolina. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She willingly and quickly established new homes in each new location as her husband took on new jobs in his 30-year career with IBM.
Fran was an expert seamstress and loved sewing clothing for her children and grandchildren. She also used those skills to sew many church banners. She was a lifelong Lutheran and an active member of St. Matthias Lutheran Church. She was a talented painter and painted many of her husband’s wood carvings that decorated their home. She served in several leadership positions with WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America) and recently received a South Carolina WELCA Honorary Lifetime Membership Award. She was an active member of the Lucy Holcombe Pickens chapter of Questers, serving as President and in several other leadership positions.
A Memorial Service will be held 11:00AM Saturday, November 17, 2018 at St. Matthias Lutheran Church in Easley, SC.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to St. Matthias Lutheran Church, 501 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642.
