Genelle was born on November 4, 1933 to the late Johnnie and Beulah Horne in Cherokee County, South Carolina. She retired as a machinist for Ohio Gear. She was a devoted member of Rock Springs Baptist Church and enjoyed her time sewing and crocheting. With a natural green thumb, she had a special talent for growing beautiful flowers and bountiful vegetables in her garden.
She is survived by her son Stanley Owens (Cindy); her beloved Shih Tzu, Pumpkin; grandson, Kyle Patrick Owens (Caroline); and her devoted caregiver Amanda Rhodes (Alan).
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Monroe Owens; daughter Sheila Malmgren.
A funeral service for Genelle will be held Friday, July 18, 2025 at 2:00 PM at Rock Springs Baptist Church, 201 Rock Springs Rd #1430, 1430, Easley, SC 29642. A committal service will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2410 Gentry Memorial Hwy, Pickens, South Carolina. Reverend Stuart Houston will be officiating the service.
