Georgia was born in Danville, Illinois on September 14, 1947, to the late James and Mary Alford. In 1961 the family moved to Georgia from Indiana where Georgia graduated from Druid Hills High School in Atlanta. She then attended the University of Georgia where she was active in the Kappa Delta sorority. She graduated from UGA with a degree in history. After graduation from the university, she taught history at Peachtree High School in DeKalb County, Georgia.
Georgia married Albert Morris in 1967 while they were still at UGA. Georgia and Al moved to Pickens, South Carolina in 1972 as the owners of the Corner Drug Store. In Pickens, Georgia was active in the Pickens Presbyterian Church, serving as an Elder and as Youth Director. Georgia and Al were active members of the Pickens Supper Club for 35 years. In 2001 Georgia and Al moved to their home on Lake Keowee. Recently Georgia has been active in Bethel Presbyterian Church of Walhalla as an Elder.
She is survived by her husband: Albert Morris; her daughter: Amy Morris; her son: Todd Morris (Molly); granddaughters Lily Morris and Maggie Elizabeth Morris. Georgia is also survived by four siblings: Joan Alford and James Alford (Janet) both of Chelsea, Michigan, Catherine Rotch (Steve) of Walhalla, South Carolina, and Patricia Gramling of Tallahassee, Florida. She is also survived by sister-in-law: Pam Morris of Grayson, Georgia; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Georgia was preceded in death by her son: Jeffery Morris.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 1, 2022 in the Chapel of Dillard Memorial Funeral Home.
The family will receive friends after the service.
