Gwinlin Cox

Born on July 15, 1932, in Greenville, South Carolina to the late Vera Rigdon and Haskell Cox.

Gwinlin enjoyed nothing more than riding his Harley, and he proudly rode it until he was 88 years old. In his free time, he loved fishing and rabbit hunting with his beloved beagles, who were each named after a President of the United States, a fitting tribute to a man who clearly appreciated both history and a good name.

He had a special place in his heart for homemade coconut cake and banana pudding, two of his favorite treats. Gwinlin will be lovingly remembered for his wonderful sense of humor, his quick wit, and the jokes he loved to pull on his family. His laughter, mischievous spirit, and zest for life brought joy to those around him and created many memories that his family will cherish forever.

He is survived by his children, Richard Cox (Kimberly), Marie Cox, Gwin Cox Jr. (Rosa), Patrick Cox, Michael Cox (Josie Mae), Gwendolyn K Cox (Duke Walstead), Edward H. Cox (Dorothy); grandchildren, Richard Almeida, Scott Lally (Stephanie Crillo), John Moore (Lauren Yates), Lisa Cox, Amy Cox, Joey Cox, David Cox, Nicole Starkey Cox, Hope Starkey Cox, Ryan Starkey, Zach Cox, Blake Cox, and Sky Cox; great grandchildren, Landon Lally, McKenzie Lally, and Otto Lally; great-great grandchildren, Benjamin Cox, Caden Cox. Additionally, he is survived by his sister, Sylvia Jean Riggins.

In addition to his parents, Gwinlin was preceded in death by his beloved first wife, Edna Cox, and second wife, Claudia G. Cox.

A visitation for Gwinlin will be held at Dillard Funeral Home, 2402 Gentry Memorial Hwy. Pickens, SC 29671, on Monday, August 17, 2026, from 12:00 to 1:45 PM.

A committal service will follow at Midway Baptist Church, 1200 Midway Rd, Pickens, SC 29671.
