Pickens, SC – Mr. Hoyt Jason Reece, age 90, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on December 5, 2021. He was born in Pickens, South Carolina and was the son of the late Johnie Reece and Eula Ramey Reece and loving husband for 48 years to the late Helen Turner Reece.
Surviving are a son Wallace Reece and a daughter Joyce Ann Reece (Del) Lesley both from Pickens, South Carolina. Surviving is a brother A.J. Reece from Travelers Rest, South Carolina and a sister Mozelle Reece from Pickens, South Carolina. Also surviving are ten loving grandchildren: Tina, Amanda, Rosanna, Savannah, Dewayne, Delano, Ashley, Breanna, Christianna and Johnie. Survived by nineteen most precious and loving great grandchildren and two loving great greatgrandchildren.
Mr. Reece was predeceased by a son William Reece and a brother Earnest Reece.
Mr. Reece was of the Baptist faith and worked as a skilled auto mechanic. People knew him to be generous and helpful but he told it like it was. He enjoyed racing and spent many years racing his own car at Riverside Speedway. He was the owner, mechanic and motor builder on his race car. Mr. Reece was known across the State for his mechanical knowledge. He loved to fish, hunt, farm and grow produce. His passions for automobiles in his later years was rebuilding Toyota trucks. He always had to be working on a mechanical problem. Mr. Reece had a good life and lived it at full speed up until the end.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2021 at 3:00PM at Dillard Funeral Home Chapel with a visitation starting at 1:00 PM before the service. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2410 Gentry Memorial Hwy Pickens, South Carolina 29671.
