Mrs. Wimpey was born in Pickens, a daughter of the late J. W. and Nettie Gilstrap Harper. She was a homemaker and a dedicated member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church where she formerly taught Sunday school.
Survivors include her daughter Dianne Owens Wood (Randall) and son Gary Robert Wimpey (Debbie) of Pickens. Grandchildren include Marty Owens (Tonya), Heather Webb (Andy), Brent Wood (Amanda), Nikki Miller (Chris), Gabriel Nabors (Randy), Dundee Carter (Paul), Daniel Wimpey (Nicole), and Caleb Wimpey (Laurel). Great grandchildren include Soloman Wilkins, Melia Wilkins, Mason Owens, Levi Webb, Mattie Wood, Sly Wood, Lauren Miller, Weston Miller, Emily Hardenbrook (Cory), Kelsi McKelvey (Sean), Ashley Nabors, Ciera Bodden, Lilly Carter, Emma Carter, James Wimpey, Chase Robinson, Cameron Robinson, Chris East, and Colt Wimpey and a great great grandson, Jacob Nabors.
Also surviving are brothers, Paul Harper and Hovie Harper and a sister Estelle Hayes.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wimpey was predeceased by daughters, Shirley Jean Wimpey and Sybil Sue Wimpey, a great grandson, Riley Owens and brothers, James and John Harper.
A graveside service will be held Monday, May 7, 2018 at 4 PM at Mountain Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will follow at the graveside.
The family requests flowers be omitted and memorials be made to Mountain Grove Baptist Church, 644 E Preston McDaniel Rd, Pickens, SC 29671, or to Pruitt Health, 163 Love and Care Road, Six Mile, SC 29682.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Pruitt Health for the care and support given to Mrs. Wimpey for the past twelve years.
