A native of Greenville County, Jimmy was the only son of the late Willie B. and Lavola Cooper. He loved the Lord and answered every call to service; he was ordained as a Deacon at age 38, served on various church committees, sang in the church choir, and taught Sunday School for 29 years. Jimmy was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church. He enjoyed playing golf and going to the shooting range. In previous years he had participated in shooting competitions. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and treasured spending time with his family and his dog, Shilo.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife: Gloria Cooper; two daughters: Lisa Akers (David) and Cindy Akers(Wayne); four grandchildren: Brad Akers(Tricia), Brandon Akers(Kinsey), Emilee Akers, and Logan Akers; and three great grandchildren: James Patrick Akers, William David Akers, and Brynleigh Willow Akers.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 12:00 PM on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Holly Springs Baptist Church with burial to follow at Holly Springs Baptist Church. Services will be conducted by Pastor Barry Dilworth.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 11:45 AM prior to the service.
The family is at their respective homes.
