Easley, SC – Mrs. Jennifer Lynn “Jena” Knight Putnam, 33, loving wife of Charles Brett Putnam, of Easley, passed away on Wednesday, February 10, 2021.

Jena was born in Seneca, SC on May 13, 1987, and was a true gift from God to her parents: Mrs. Sandra Jean Stephens Knight and the late Roy Eugene Knight. Her passion was working with the underprivileged children, and she did this as an Instructional Technologist with the Greenville County School System. Jena had a generous heart and a wonderful smile that always lit up a room. She was a true “people person” who never met a stranger and loved everyone that she came into contact with. Her faith in the Lord made her works throughout life be impactful in every way to everyone. Everything she touched, she made better in this world. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, loving daughter, caring sister, and committed friend.

In addition to her loving husband of 11 years and her mother, Jena is survived by a sister: Tracie Birch (Rodney) of Six Mile; her father-in-law and mother-in-law: Tim and Pam Putnam of Six Mile; a brother-in-law: Chad Putnam (Megan) of Lyman, SC; a sister-in-law: Melissa Hager (Scottie) of Mauldin, SC; special nieces and nephews: Alex Birch and Annah Birch Allen (Baker), both of Six Mile, Nolan and Brinkley Hager, both of Mauldin, and Ansley Jane and Gabe Putnam, both of Lyman, SC; a cousin who was more like her sister: Candace Thrift of Walnut Cove, NC; a grandmother: Florence McDonald Hughes of Six Mile; and her special “fur baby”: Allie.

At the family’s request, all services for Jena will be private. Those wishing to pay their respects to the family may come by Dillard Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 16, 2021 between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM to sign the guest book.

Jena was beautiful, enthusiastic, passionate, outgoing, generous of her time and always willing to help me with technology. She would say “Is there anything else I can help you with?” and when I would comment how helpful she was, she would reply “I’m just doing my job!” Jena was an inspiration to me and I will greatly miss her.

My first memory of Jena was shortly after Mason's birth, she arrived at Jeff & Jill's house with a care package that included a birddog pizza, something I'd never heard of, it's now become a "must have" on visits to SC. Jena was always so beautiful, cheerful and friendly, we saw her at many family events and it's hard to believe that she's gone.

Brett and family, please accept our sincere condolences. May her memory be a blessing.

Sandy, my heart aches for you and Tracie, and the friends and loved ones of Jenna. I remember the time you came to me with a request for prayer for Jenna., and God heard and gave you this beautiful little girl! ..
She would bring me a new CD when you would make one. Such precious memories! May God hold you close during the months and days ahead! I will surely be praying for you! I know it hasn't been long since Roy's passing! So much for you to deal with! But, God is with you! He has promised that He would be! He is faithful and true! I love you my dear friend!

Jena was a dedicated teacher and a dear friend. She was one of my son’s favorite teachers because of the way she treated her third graders with love and care each day. As a friend, I loved spending time chatting about everything and nothing at all with Jena, and I have so many memories of our fun times together. We shared a passion for serving the needs of our teachers and students and for making a difference, and I loved sharing ideas with Jena. Her enthusiasm and care for others was contagious. She loved her family and friends with her whole heart, and I know Jena will be missed beyond words.

Jena was one of the kindest and most hard-working people I've ever had the privilege of working with at school. She had such a huge heart for students and teachers. She loved a challenge and she loved helping teachers bring ideas to life. My favorite moments with Jena was when she would come by my office to share the projects she was working on with classes. Her passion and enthusiasm was contagious! I will miss her smile, laugh, advice and friendship!
