OBITUARY

Liberty Rabanes Davis

May 5, 1970May 11, 2018

Liberty Canales Rabanes Davis of Davao City, the Philippines passed away on the morning of Friday, May 11, 2018 at her home in Six Mile, South Carolina after a very lengthy illness. Ms. Davis lost her brave battle with cancer only six days following her 48th birthday. She is survived by her 15-year-old daughter, Adrienna Caroline, and her husband of sixteen years, Roger Dale Davis, both of the home

Best known for her warm smile and ability to make friends, Liberty was employed for thirteen-and-one-half years at Cornell Dubilier in Liberty, South Carolina. She also enjoyed working outside during the summer, taking much pride in growing beautiful plants and flowers in the yard. Mrs. Davis graduated from the University of Mindanao in 1991, earning a Bachelor of Secondary Education degree. She attended Holy Cross Catholic Church in Pickens as well as United Wesleyan Church in Easley, where her daughter takes piano lessons and frequently participates in musical events at the church.

Liberty is the daughter of the late Vicenta Canales Rabanes and Nemisio Rabanes, also deceased. She is also survived by two brothers, Roel Rabanes of Greenville, South Carolina, and Armand Rabanes, who is a current resident of the Philippines.Liberty has two sisters, Antonita Rea of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Rowena Rabanes of the Philippines.

Liberty worked very hard to take care of her family, employed with two companies for much of 2017, unaware of the progression of her deadly illness. She kept her sister and husband smiling from time to time almost until the final hour of her life. Despite the seriousness of her condition, Liberty found humor in things even on the eve of her passing. She will be missed tremendously by all of those whose lives she touched during her much too brief time on earth.

Friends will be received at Dillard Funeral Home on Highway 8 in Pickens on the evening of Friday, May 18 between the hours of 5 and 8 PM. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 PM on Saturday, May 19 at United Wesleyan Church at 738 Rice Road in Easley. Leading the service will be Pastor Tim Jones, with a number of other speakers contributing to the service. Burial will take place in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens.

Libery is one of those rare individuals who chose to love her friends, family--and even strangers--well. Her smile brightened many of my days. She did kind things without expectation of something in return. She will be greatly missed but I am thankful to have known her. My prayers continue for all who love her.

My first memory of Liberty was of her beauty and intelligence and how well she spoke and pronounced the English language so well. Everyone soon learned how friendly and thoughtful she was of other people. Liberty certainly represented the people of the Philipines well! Liberty certainly was an example of how to make friends and to smile through all the pain! Your friends forever Tommy , Roger and Eunice Barrett. Just remember that there is a Statue of Liberty in New York but you will always be our Statue of Liberty in our hearts!

Liberty was always the dutiful wife and attentive mother. She was always concerned that she bring her child up in the eyes of God. She loved Adrienna so much. Even during her sickness she was at mass and loved the Lord.
I will miss Liberty and her smile.

Liberty Davis was such a sweet person she always carried that beautiful smile, always jolly and was very outgoing. I loved working with her. There was never a day that I seen her that she didn’t stop and bring on a conversation with me. She was just a happy lady all the time. I know she will be greatly missed not only by her family but also by all her co- workers. My thoughts & prayers go out to all of the family & co- workers. RIP Liberty Davis you may be gone but you will never be forgotten.
