

Lila was born on January 19, 1929, in Pickens, South Carolina, to the late Norton B. and Pearl Durham Stephens. She was a faithful member at Gap Hill Church of God until her health declined. Lila served in the church as a Sunday School teacher, singing, and as the custodian. She loved to be outside working with her flowers or out riding around looking at out peoples yards. Lila had a sweet tooth, and loved to have something sweet with every meal.
Survivors include her daughter in law, Evelyn Galloway of Ringgold, GA and daughter, Ann G. Duncan of Pickens. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren, Crystal Herring (Wade), David Galloway (Tonya), and Kevin Galloway and 4 great grandchildren, Adam Greer, Sarah Greer Griffin (Braxton), Audrey Galloway and Allie Galloway, step-grandchildren, Justin Herring (Monica), Brad Herring (Cassidy), and Tiffany Herring Tompkins (Dennis) and also a sister, Nellie Grace Knight.
In addition to her parents, Lila was preceded in death by her beloved husband David Cleo Galloway, a son Cleo Edwin Galloway, and three siblings, Flora Durham, Alma Chastain, and Paul Stephens.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 12:45 PM on Wednesday July 22, 2026, at Dillard Funeral Home with funeral services following at 1:00 PM in the chapel.
Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
