Margaret James Brooks, 86, of Pickens, she was the daughter of the late Turner James and Ethel Cardell James. A woman of tremendous faith, she left this earthly body to see her Lord on Thursday April 18, 2019. She was the heart of her family and seldom has God given so much through one woman. She opened her home and heart to any child in need. She was a member of Wayside Baptist Church where Reverend Roger Todd was her pastor for over 45 years.
She is survived by her children, Gail Burrell, Charles (Tammy) Brooks all of Pickens. A daughter-in-law Linda Brooks, Martha Wilson, Norma (Bill) Fortner all of Easley, Mark Brooks of Liberty, and adopted sons Jerry (Sara) Hostetler of Iva and Ricky Lusk of Pickens. One sister Rachel (Aaron) Jennings of Greenville, 18 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 6 great great-grandchildren which she cherished and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased in death by her husband of 67 years, Ray Brooks, her son Steve “Skeeter” Brooks, an infant son Marshall, brothers Clyde Jack, Bus, and Pete James and a sister Ruth Dover.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thank you to Dan and Linda Hudson of Six Mile. Beloved beyond measure by her, they were God sent friends to Ray and Margaret, whom they cherished. A special thank you to Cannon Hospital of Pickens and Hospice Care of South Carolina for their care and compassion.
The family will receive friends on Monday April 22, 2019, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 3 p.m. in the Dillard Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Roger Todd and Reverend Greg Phillips officiating. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
