Melva Lee Fincannon Hughes, 85, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 15, 2019, at AnMed Health in Anderson. Melva was a daughter of the late William and Cora Fincannon. She was also a devoted wife, of over 65 years, to her husband Samuel “Colie” Hughes.
She was a member of the Church of God, and an excellent chef, who even had her own amazing recipe for a green tomato relish.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Welford, Jimmy, Thomas; and two sisters, Lou Ellen and Elisabeth. She is survived by two children, Duane Hughes, Linda Landreth (Johnny); two grandchildren, Jeremy Hughes, Amanda Hughes; one great grandchild, Nate McClure; three brothers, Harold, Marion, Carles; and three sisters, Kathryn, Lula, and Betty.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday June19, 2019 at 11:00am at Hillcrest Memorial Park with Reverend Tony Edwards and Reverend Paul Stephens officiating. There will be a visitation, afterwards, from 12:30 to 2:00pm at Dillard Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association National Office at 225 N Michigan Ave, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601, or to the charity of one’s choice.
