Mike and I met in Orange Park, FL in 1969. We became friends and spent much of our high school years together.
In 1980, Mike moved to Cullowhee, NC where I was attending Western Carolina University. Not only were we roommates, we spent countless weeks, months and years together exploring the mountains of Western North Carolina. We became very close friends.
In 1985, Mike traveled to San Diego, CA to visit with my wife and I. We had a great time driving into Mexico, exploring Tijuana and Ensenada.
As the years passed our lived took different paths. Even so we managed to stay in touch.
Mike and I last talked, by telephone, in 2015. We agreed that we had to find time to visit.....but it never happened.
He will always have a special place in my memories.
My thoughts are with his family, many of whom I’ve never met.
Travel well, Mike.
