Mildred was born in Oconee, South Carolina on February 9, 1945 to the late George Washington and Annie Underwood Reid. After leaving Glenwood Mills, she became a bus driver for the Pickens County School District for over 20 years until she retired. Mildred was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She loved Christmas and showing her love to others with Christmas gifts. Mildred loved giving and making people smile. Her hobbies included knitting, blankets, and scarves, buying shoes, and keeping in touch with family.
Mrs. Proffitt is survived by one daughter: Sheila Chasteen of Greer; four grandchildren: Eric Watkins (Leslie) of Dacusville, Chris Edwards of Easley, Kevin Watkins of Greenville, and Brooke Frederick (Jason) of Greer; two sisters: Dorothy Johnson of Liberty and Wanda Garren of Easley; and one special cousin: Sylvia Smith (Scott) of Easley.
In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her loving husband: SB Proffitt; one daughter: Janice McDonald; and one brother: Leon Reid; and one sister: Gertrude Moore.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 18, 2023 in the Chapel of Dillard Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 12:45 PM until 1:45 PM prior to the service.
