Mr. Monroe Owens, 87, of Six Mile passed away at Greenville Memorial Hospital on Monday December 08, 2014 surrounded by loving family and friends.
Mr. Owens was born in Cherokee County, SC in 1927, was a retired Duke Power crane operator supervisor. He was employed for 33 years retiring in 1984. He continued to work for Duke Power contractors 15 years and helped build the following power plants; Cowan’s Ford, Marshall, Keowee – Jocassee, Oconee, Bad Creek, Salisbury and Cherokee.
He was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Easley and the Living Word Bible Fellowship Sunday School Class.
Mr. Owens was a member of the Six Mile Masonic lodge for 50 years.
His loves includes his family, NASCAR, football and working in his garden, and his many pets.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years Genelle Horne Owens. Daughter Sheila Malmgren (John) and son Stanley Owens (Cindy) both of Clemson. Grandchildren Ashley Malmgren of Anderson and Kyle Patrick Owens of Clemson.
Visitation will be Thursday December 11, 2014 from 6pm to 8pm at Dillard Funeral Home. Funeral Service will 2pm Friday December 12, 2014 at Rock Springs Baptist Church. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
