Born on April 1, 1954, in Norfolk, Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Annabell Dilworth Brush, and granddaughter of the late Charles Albert Brush (Mary Ann Hughes) and the late William Perry Dilworth (Nena Lee Walker). Family was the most important thing for Nancy. She worked hard her entire life and was truly the backbone of her family. On top of working a full time job, and sometimes a second job, she would cook dinner every night, take her children to sporting/school commitments, sew dresses and blankets, bake birthday cakes, cut the grass (because she loved it), tackle home improvement projects, and so much more. Once her children were grown, her grandchildren became her driving force. She taught her children the importance of family and showed them the true meaning of unconditional love. When faced with life’s adversity, her unwavering strength and humility never faltered. Teaching them that, no matter the circumstance, we will get through it...together.
Surviving are her husband of 43 years, Walter M. Parson; children - Stephanie Dawn Brush (deceased), Walter Kevin Parson and Anna Nicole Taylor (Ben); grandchildren - Noah Parson, Logan Taylor, Annabelle Taylor, Ava June Taylor, Lucas Taylor, Liam Taylor, and siblings, Myra Bryant, Nicholas Brush, Barbara Vaughan, Patricia Flynn and Conna Dawson. She was also predeceased by her sister, Nena Campbell and brother, William Brush.
Receiving of friends will be held on Tuesday January 15, 2019, from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. at Dillard Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
