Gig was born in Pickens to the late William Roy and Lassie Jane Garren.
Gig was a long-time member of Red Hill Baptist Church; and was the owner of Garren's Cafe for over 30 years. The cafe was a place for her community to gather and enjoy a cup of coffee or a meal. During her spare time, she often was seen with her sister Brenda working in the yard with her flowers and plants.
